Nothing says love like heavy metal.
Our printing studio uses a circa 1920 Chandler & Price platen press . Each custom designed piece of stationery is first digitally created to perfection then sent to a photopolymer plate creation lab, then delivered to our studio. Once a plate is fixed in place on the platen, custom ink is hand-mixed to create a Pantone matched color. Ink is then spread upon the ink disc of the press, spread by hand-turned rollers, and applied to the custom photopolymer plate. The pressure of the plate to paper then creates a beautifully debossed imprint, creating the final product. Another common style of letterpress printing is called 'blind impression', which is an inkless technique paired with a bold design or text.
For the budgeteers, all semi-custom designs are always available as a digitally printed product. Printing is outsourced by a professional printing lab, along with special paper varieties (which differ from PPP's exclusive Letterpress Papers).
BUT FIRST - coffee.
At first contact, you will be sent a customized questionnaire to best understand your budget, timeline, and style preferences. Given your budget, we will provide you a crafted quote, with a variety of product combinations that best suit your needs and desires. After completion of the questionnaire, a (no charge, no commitment, and no pressure) video-chat or in-person consultation is always recommended to get our wheels going on inspiration and our relationship! Whether near or far, I'd love to buy you a coffee and chat about our visions as we collaborate your dream stationery.
After acceptance of the quote, the fun and designing begins! Each semi-custom invitation includes 3 rounds of proofs, ensuring verbiage and color choices are exactly as desired. Complete custom designs included unlimited rounds. Upon final approval of your design, production begins!
The production step begins by ordering any special materials needed for your order. This includes your specially designed photopolymer letterpress plate, specialty paper, and any other accessories included with your suite. The printing begins as soon as your plates and paper have arrived at our studio. In the shop, each page is fed by hand, and each color phase of a print job can take several hours on press from start to clean-up. The printing process typically endures from 1-2 weeks, depending on quantity and complexity of your orders (such as multiple ink colors, edge painting, or large quantity orders).
Once the printing process has completed, you will be notified of completion and final payment is due upon shipment of your package. Your stationery is then packed and sealed with plenty of TLC, and unless otherwise specified, is shipped via FedEx. Shipment of orders above $500 is always complimentary. Express shipment options available for additional charge (always at cost).
Tracking numbers of your package is also provided upon shipment.
